From your registrar: Your first point of contact should be your registrar. If you are not sure who your registrar is, look up your domain name in the web-based WHOIS. Your registrar's name will be listed in the registrar section of the query result. Please note that this may not be the name of the organization you are in contact with. This organization can be one of your registrar’s resellers, but will nevertheless still be able to assist you in obtaining the code.
From the My .eu platform: You can also issue the transfer authorization code yourself on the My.eu account. Please do not confuse the access code you will receive by email (which will enable you to enter the My .eu platform) with the transfer authorization code (which you will issue once you are on the platform).
From EURid: This should be done only as a last resort. After proving you are the holder of the domain and cannot obtain an authorization code from your current registrar or via the My .eu platform, you can request an emergency transfer authorization code directly from EURid:
- Look up your domain name in the web-based WHOIS.
- Click on the "Request emergency authorization code" link in the WHOIS query result for your domain name.
- Fill out the electronic request form according to the instructions and state the reasons you were not able to receive the authoritative code from your registrar or My .eu account.
- Print the form, sign it and send it to us via email at authcoderequest@eurid.eu. If the requester is an organization, please print the form on company letterhead paper or add a company stamp.
We will evaluate your request and inform you of the outcome accordingly.
! Please note that the code issued by the registrar can exist in parallel with the code issued by you or by EURid. Both of them will be valid until their individual expiry date or until one of them is used to process the transfer.
! Please note that transferring a suspended domain name to another registrar is prohibited, except in cases described in EURid’s Registration Data Verification Policy. Although transfer codes may be issued by the registrar, EURid, or the registrant through the My .eu platform, the transfer cannot be completed while the domain is in suspended status (displayed as 'Server Hold' status when looking up the domain name on WHOIS).
